Budapest, as the capital of the Hungary, serves as a principal political, cultural, commercial, industrial and transportation center in the country. With a population of about 3 million, it is also an important hub in central Europe. It occupies both banks of River Danube and became a global city after unification of Buda at the west side and Pest on the east on 17/11/1873. Direct ancestor was Celtic before 1 A.D. and later was occupied by Romans, and Magyars in 9th and Mongols in 1241/2. By 15th century, it turned into one of the Renaissance humanist center.
It is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe with 80 geothermal springs, world largest thermal water cave system, and 2nd largest millennium underground railway. Each year attracts about 20 millions of visitors. Both banks of the river, Buda Castle quarter, Heroes Square has included into an extensive world heritage site. Buda Castle, separated by Danube River, dominating the twin cities of Buda and Pest, and the magnificent Neo-Gothic styled Parliament buildings, are the two significant landmarks in Budapest City.
"On the Beautiful Blue Danube " , a waltz piece composed by an Austrian composer (Johann Strauss) while traveling down the river, is well known across the world. Danube River is the longest and 2nd largest river in European unions, originated from Black Forest in Germany, passing through 9 countries, 4 capitals of central and eastern Europe and flow eastwards for a distance of 2850 km towards black seas in Bulgaria. It is an important transport route in Europe.

Heroes Square rich with historical and political connotations is now the landmark of the city. The central large stone Cenotaph known as Millenary Monument was in memory to unknown heroes who gave lives for the freedom of their people and national independence.
The male and female statues at the top edge on the left pillar, holding a tiny golden statue in man's hand and the woman with palm frond, represented knowledge and glory. On right hand side the man was holding a scythe and woman sowing seeds, giving meaning to labor and wealth.
There are two matched colonnades with seven statues each, representing outstanding figures of Hungarian history. They were the leaders of seven tribes who found Hungary in 9th century.
Heroes Square completed in 1929, was situated at the end of Andrassy Avenue, with Museum of fine arts on right and Palace of arts on left.
A lonely violin artist immensely concentrate in playing his music right in front of the museum. On the other side is the historical building with walls full of bullet holes received during war .

This is a compulsory stop at the border between Austria and Hungary. The only little shop offer service for food, for toilet, for banking and money changing. Behind me where the car parked is the immigration building. .
